New Dengue Vaccination Plan for Buenos Aires

The Government of the City of Buenos Aires has announced the beginning of dengue vaccination for young people aged 20 to 24, scheduled to start on Friday, November 1. This measure is taken to strengthen the national vaccination strategy and address the increase in cases in the region.

The vaccination plan will be carried out progressively and in stages, in accordance with national guidelines and subject to vaccine availability. It is important to highlight that, for the moment, vaccination is not recommended for immunocompromised patients, pregnant women, breastfeeding women, children under 4 years old, and seniors over 60 years old.

Those interested in receiving the dengue vaccine must be residents of the City of Buenos Aires and have their National Identity Document and vaccination card when attending the assigned appointment. Adolescents aged 15 to 19 may continue to request appointments.

The vaccine to be used will be Qdenga®, approved by ANMAT in 2023 and developed by Takeda laboratory. The vaccination process will be coordinated through the "Mi BA" website, where the necessary appointments can be requested to access vaccination at the authorized centers.

With this initiative, the City of Buenos Aires aligns with the recommendations of the National Immunization Commission and collaborates with the Ministry of Health of the Nation in the implementation of the vaccination campaign free of charge. The efficacy and safety studies of the vaccine have been approved in phase III, with phase IV studies scheduled for 2025.
